LATAM Airlines Increasing Operations At Subsidiaries During September

LATAM Airlines Group reported on Wednesday that it has shown a gradual recovery of its operations in recent months. In April the carrier operated a 5.7% of its capacity, 6.7% in May, 6.4% in June, 9.2% in July, and in August it reached 13.9% of its capacity — measured in available seat-kilometers (ASK) — in relation to the same months in 2019.

Regarding the cargo operation, the airline filled in August 73.3% of its total capacity, exceeding a total of 54.5% in August 2019. LATAM Cargo has maximized the use of its Boeing 767F cargo fleet and has used passenger planes for the exclusive transport of cargo, performing 345 flights under this modality during August.

This month, LATAM Airlines Chile has resumed operations to 11 domestic destinations in Chile, going from 20 to 35 frequencies daily. In terms of international flights, the few remaining flights are the weekly Santiago to Montevideo, Uruguay flight, two weekly flights from Santiago to Los Angeles and New York and an increase to three weekly flights from Santiago to Madrid.

LATAM Airlines Colombia resumed domestic operations to Barranquilla, Bucaramanga, Cali, Cartagena, Leticia, Medellín, Santa Marta and San Andrés.

As announced, the reactivation of international flights in Colombia will begin with the first commercial flight between Cartagena and Miami on Sept. 19, to be operated by U.S. low-cost airline Spirit Airlines. However, LATAM Airlines Colombia has not scheduled international operations for this month.

LATAM Airlines Brazil will go from operating 171 to 243 daily domestic flights, reaching 44 destinations within Brazil. To this, the carrier is adding a number of new domestic destinations through a codeshare agreement with Azul Brazilian Airlines. On the international front, the additions are a weekly frequency from Sao Paulo to Montevideo and three weekly flights from Sao Paulo to New York.

LATAM Airlines Peru is operating domestic flights to 14 cities from Lima during September: Ayacucho, Cajamarca, Cusco, Chiclayo, Ilo, Iquitos, Jaén, Juliaca, Piura, Pucallpa, Tacna, Talara, Trujillo and Tumbes. International operations have not been authorized by Peruvian government yet.

LATAM Airlines Ecuador is operating 30 weekly frequencies within the country, increasing 50% compared to August. The destinations are Coca, Cuenca, Guayaquil and Manta from Quito in addition to as well as Baltra and San Cristóbal from Guayaquil.

LATAM Airlines Paraguay has not confirmed a date to resume its operations.
