American Airlines Announces Two New Destinations, Six New Flights

American Airlines has quietly added six new flights to their network, all starting in June. The new flights are already available for sale and were first loaded to the airline’s website over this past weekend. Highlights of the new routes include the launch of two new destinations for the Fort Worth-based airline.

American will start service to Idaho Falls, Idaho from its Dallas/Fort Worth and Phoenix hubs, returning to the eastern Idaho city for the first time since the mid-1990s. Flights from both cities will begin on June 3, 2021 and will operate once daily.

Operations are currently scheduled to be operated by SkyWest Airlines for American Airlines using the airline’s Bombardier CRJ-700 aircraft. The aircraft features 65 seats including 9 first class, 16 economy plus, and 40 economy seats.

American will also launch flights to Arcata-Eureka Airport, just north of the cities of Arcata and Eureka, California. Flights will operate from the carrier’s Phoenix hub and also be operated by SkyWest CRJ-700s. Like Idaho Falls, service will start on June 3, 2021 and operate once daily.

On top of the two new destinations, the airline will also be launching three new seasonal routes. The new routes follow a common trend seen during COVID-19, with new flights being focused on outdoor, leisure-heavy destinations.

American’s expansion in Bozeman, Montana will continue with the announcement of its seventh destination from the popular gateway city for Yellowstone National Park. On June 3, flights between Bozeman and Phoenix will begin, with previously announced flights to Philadelphia and New York’s LaGuardia Airport starting just two days later. Flights between Bozeman and Phoenix will operate daily until Aug. 16 and be operated by Mesa Airlines Bombardier CRJ-900s.

The airline also will be making it easier for Californians to reach Grand Junction, Colorado and Missoula, Montana. Both destinations will be operated from Los Angeles International Airport and operate between June 3 and Aug. 16. Los Angeles will become American’s third destination from both cities.

Flights from Bozeman to Los Angeles will operate daily during the scheduled operating period. Grand Junction will receive Saturday-only service from the City of Angels. Flights to both destinations will be carried out by SkyWest CRJ-700s.
