Avianca Continues To Grow International Route Network In November

Must read

Avianca is gearing up for a relatively strong month of international operations. Much of the airline’s long-haul fleet was grounded from spring until the commercial restart of international services at the end of September. After a month of resumptions, the flag carrier of Colombia is ready for expansion.

In October, Avianca had restarted international flights to several destinations across North and South America. The company worked on the resumption of services to countries such as the United States, Mexico, Brazil, Ecuador, Bolivia, Guatemala, Dominican Republic, and Chile through the month. Now, more resumptions are occurring.

Back to London

Torre El Dorado reports that Avianca will resume flights between Bogotá and London from this Wednesday. However, during the month, there will only be five flights in total. These dates are the 4th, 11th, 18th, 25th, and 30th.

Nonetheless, it was announced just yesterday that England is going into lockdown on Thursday until December 2nd. With this move, the country’s government said there is “no exemption for staying away from home on holiday.” This factor means people can’t travel internationally or within the UK, unless for work, education “or other legally permitted exemptions.” Therefore, this sporadic service will suit until next month.

From December, Avianca will increase flights from Bogóta to London to five times a week. With the United Kingdom government expected to relax restrictions in England from the first week of December, this increase in frequency is good timing for the airline.

Across the continents

Altogether, the London resumption is just one of many progressive international moves for Avianca in November. Routesonline highlights that the carrier will be busy across the skies this month.

For instance, also to Europe, the airline will be flying weekly to Barcelona and Madrid with its Dreamliner aircraft. Avianca will also be active across the Americas. For example, from Bogotá, it is flying daily from Bogotá to Miami with its A330-200s, and daily to New York JFK and Mexico City with its A319s and A320s respectively.

Avianca is also servicing closer to home. There are flights to the likes of Buenos Aires, La Paz, Santa Cruz, Quito, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Santiago de Chile, Panama City, and San Jose.

Positive signs

Altogether, Avianca will be glad to be reaching greater heights again. After five months of commercial inactivity, the airline only restarted domestic passenger flights at the beginning of September and international services at the end of the same month. So, it is making good progress heading into the end of the year.
