World2Fly’s First Airbus A350 Takes Its First Flight

Must read

Spain’s new leisure airline, World2Fly, has just seen its first Airbus A350 take to the skies over France yesterday in preparation for what it hopes will be a big summer season. The aircraft with its Airbus test registration of F-WZHI took off from Airbus’ initial final assembly line (FAL)  in Toulouse yesterday for a three-hour, 33-minute flight over the French countryside.

The Iberostar Group-owned airline has recently obtained its Air Operator Certificate (AOC) from the Spanish Aviation Safety and Security Agency (AESA) and plans to begin commercial operations in June. Based at Madrid-Barajas Adolfo Suárez Airport (MAD), World2Fly plans to offer transatlantic flights to Mexico and two destinations in the Carribean.

About World2Fly

World2Fly is owned by Spanish hotel operators Iberostar who has more than 120 four and five-star resorts dotted worldwide. Based on the Spanish Balearic Island of Mallorca, Iberostar decided to create World2Fly to fly guests from Europe to its resorts in Cuba, the Dominican Republic, and Mexico. From the Spanish capital Madrid World2Fly plans to fly to the following destinations two times per week:

  • Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) in the Dominican Republic
  • José Martí International Airport (HAV) in Havana,Cuba
  • Cancun International Airport (CUN) in Mexico

Simultaneously, as launching flights from Madrid with a brand new Airbus, A350 World2Fly will offer flights to the same three destinations from Humberto Delgado Airport (LIS) in Lisbon, Portugal, aboard a 10-year-old Airbus A330-300. According to World2Fly, the A330-300 is just a temporary measure until their second A350 is delivered. Unlike two flights per week from Madrid, World2Fly will only operate one fight per week from Lisbon to the same destinations.

Why the Airbus A350?

Originally ordered by Russian national flag carrier Aeroflot World2Fly claims that its brand new Airbus A350-900 will allow passengers to feel like they are on vacation before reaching their destination. While we do not know how the seating will be configured on World2Fly’s A350, typically, the aircraft is designed to accommodate between 300 and 350 passengers in a standard three-class configuration.

Passengers flying on World2Fly’s A350 can look forward to a spacious, elegantly-lit cabin fitted with the latest in-flight entertainment to access on-demand movies and television shows. The A350 also offers state-of-the-art inflight WiFi connectivity that allows you to stay connected to family and friends.

About the destinations

In Punta Cana, Iberostar has three beachfront  all-inclusive 5-star hotels surrounded by tropical gardens:

  • Iberostar Punta Cana
  • Iberostar Selection Bavaro
  • Iberostar Dominicana

In Spanish, Punta Cana means “tips of white palms,” and it is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Carribean. Known for its beautiful pristine white sandy beaches and luxury hotels, Punta Cana has everything you could want for a memorable tropical vacation.

In Cancun, Iberostar has two 5-star beachfront hotels:

  • Iberostar Selection Cancún (All Inclusive)
  • Coral Level at Iberostar Selection Cancún ( Adults Only)

Both hotels offer unbeatable beachfront locations with the four-diamond Iberostar Selection Cancún, the only all-inclusive hotel with its own golf course and health spa. Cancun is a world-famous beach destination with the bonus of being located close to the Yukatan’s Mayan ruins.

In Havana, Iberostar has two 5-star hotels and one 4-star hotel:

  • Iberostar Parque Central
  • Iberostar Grand Packard
  • Habana Riviera by Iberostar

For those looking for more than a luxurious hotel and pristine beach, Havana, Cuba, can tick all the boxes. At first, Havana might resemble a jigsaw puzzle, but once you piece it all together, you will have a beautiful picture.

Seeing as Iberostar markets itself as a luxurious brand, having a new Airbus A350 to take guests to the holiday destination seems like a logical step.
