Wizz Air releases its winter routes

European low-cost carrier Wizz Air has revealed details of its upcoming winter schedule. The airline will fly to over 144 destinations across Europe and the Middle East from 12 different airports in the UK. Destinations on offer include:

  • Dalaman
  • Lanzarote
  • Faro
  • Gibraltar
  • Sharm El Sheikh

Wizz Air will operate out of several UK airports, including Gatwick, Luton, Cardiff, Bristol, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Liverpool and Doncaster Sheffield Airport.

Tickets are available to purchase immediately for members of the Wizz Discount Club. If you aren’t a member, fares go on sale to the general public on February 18th. With travel restrictions giving customers pause about booking for spring and summer getaways, travelers will have the chance to plan ahead and book a winter break.

Flexible booking and COVID cover

With flights getting canceled at a moment’s notice due to ongoing restrictions, many passengers are reluctant to book anything at the moment. With Wizz Air, travelers can benefit from the airline’s Wizz FLEX policy.

This allows passengers to cancel flights up to three hours before departure without any fees, with a full refund in airline credit. While customers will need to use the refunded credits within 90 days, the new departure date need not fall within this period.

The airline has also introduced COVID cover as part of its insurance policy. The optional insurance policy can be purchased with your booking and will now cover COVID-related medical expenses and cancellations. Andras Rado, Senior Corporate Communications Manager, said,

“With our updated travel insurance package, passengers can rest assured that they are prepared and covered in case of COVID-19 disruptions to their trip.”

Wizz Air aims to emerge from the pandemic stronger

In an exclusive interview with Simple Flying, Wizz Air CEO József Váradi revealed the airline is in a good position to emerge from the global pandemic stronger than ever. With its low-cost structure, healthy cash reserves and intelligent adaptations to the crisis, Wizz Air is confident it has all the qualities needed to succeed through 2021.

While other carriers have been left reeling from the financial impact of the COVID pandemic, Wizz Air has been busy expanding. The airline recently established its 41st operating base at Sarajevo Airport, with ambitious plans to open up nine new routes. Destinations include Basel, Dortmund, London Luton and Paris Beauvais, all of which aren’t currently served by any airlines from Sarajevo.

Wizz Air shared its ambitions to conquer the UK market with Simple Flying in December. This included opening up a new base at Cardiff Airport, a move aimed at appealing to customers outside its London sphere of influence. The latest details of its upcoming winter schedule are sure to whet the travel appetites of UK residents, with flights available from airports up and down the country.
