Volaris Commemorates 15 Years Flying With ‘Quinceañera’ Jet

Mexican low-cost carrier Volaris is celebrating 15 years of operations this month, and to commemorate the special anniversary, the airline unveiled an all-new quinceañera-themed paint design on one of its Airbus A320neo aircraft last week. The airline’s “15th Birthday” is no small occasion, especially in Mexico, and Volaris is offering extensive promotions and discounts to travelers during the entire month of March to celebrate.

The quinceañera-themed jet is the airline’s second special livery. Volaris unveiled its first special livery aircraft — one dedicated to DC Comics superhero Wonder Woman — also on another one of its mainline A320neos earlier in 2021. The “Quinceañera” paint design, which the airline teased in late February through its social media platforms and on bus stops in Mexico City, has the goal of capturing the celebratory atmosphere of the “15th Birthday.”

Following the Mexican tradition of naming a jet after a person or family or after a new destination it is flying to, Volaris has named the commemorative A320neo “Quinceañera”. The special livery features a Spanish language trademark, “XV Años,” near its fuselage to commemorate its 15 years of service. The name of the airline is featured prominently with a collage of bright colors, and the name is topped with a celebratory gold crown.

“One of the biggest celebrations in Mexico, without a doubt, is turning 15. It is a unique moment to share with the family, from planning to the end of the celebration,” Daniel Gelemovich, Volaris’ Director of Digital Marketing said in a press statement. “We come from a year that changed the dynamics with our loved ones and, today, 2021 gives us the opportunity to recognize the effort of adaptation and resilience of Mexicans, through a concept that is very ours.”

From its first flight in 2006, Volaris has transported more than 150 million travelers to destinations across Mexico, the U.S., Costa Rica, El Salvador and Guatemala. As of 2021, it is the second-largest airline in Mexico. The low-cost carrier offers low base fares to build its market targeting passengers who are visiting friends and relatives, business travelers and leisure travelers. Volaris is one of the only carriers to offer point-to-point operations in Mexico and it serves more destinations in Mexico from the U.S. than any other carrier.
