Low-cost carrier VietJet announced a new service connecting Ho Chi Minh City to Sydney, Australia, on Monday. The airline said the new route will be an affordable and exciting way to explore the Vietnam destination.

With multiple flights to be scheduled per week, passengers can travel between the two cities easily and conveniently. In addition to the new route to Sydney, the Vietnamese carrier will also begin flying to Melbourne.

Flight details

Flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Sydney will begin on April 12, 2023. According to the Executive Traveller, there will be three flights scheduled weekly.

Sydney to Ho Chi Minh City flights will fire up every Monday, Thursday, and Saturday at 10:15, with a mid-afternoon arrival of 16:30. For the return, passengers will depart from Ho Chi Minh City every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday at 19:30, and will land in Sydney at 7:20 the following day.

The Melbourne route is set to begin a few days earlier, on April 8th. Flights reportedly depart from Melbourne every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, with wheels up after midnight at 12:30 and touchdown into Ho Chi Minh City at 5:15. For returning trips, flights will leave Ho Chi Minh City at 9:50 every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and will arrive in Melbourne at 22:35.

VietJet Vice President Nguyen Thanh Son spoke about the new routes in a statement obtained by the Executive Traveller.

“Our direct flights from Ho Chi Minh City to Melbourne and Sydney make it easier and more convenient for business, education, and tourism between Vietnam and Australia. In the coming year, we plan to expand to cities including Brisbane, Darwin, and Adelaide.”

The flights will be operated by the Airbus A330 aircraft. VietJet said travelers can choose from a range of ticket classes, including SkyBoss Business, SkyBoss, Deluxe, and Eco, each with all-inclusive services, checked baggage, free travel insurance, and many other attractive incentives.

Passengers can also experience the best of its premium cabins, SkyBoss Business or SkyBoss, or purchase a deluxe package with exclusive utilities. For travelers on a budget, the affordable Eco class still reportedly offers a comfortable and enjoyable flight.

VietJet also mentioned that its frequent flyer program members can earn bonus points and a voucher if they purchase a flight to Sydney in the coming weeks.

“But the perks don’t stop there,” the airline said. “Members of Vietjet’s SkyJoy loyalty program can earn up to 3,330 SkyPoints when purchasing tickets, able to be redeemed for attractive Vietjet vouchers and gifts from over 250 popular food, shopping and tourism brands in Vietnam. If you book your tickets before March 15, 2023, you’ll also receive an extra VND100,000 e-voucher when paying with Vietjet at evoucher.vietjetair.com.”

Interest in Vietnam has soared since the country reopened in March of last year. According to the Executive Traveller, the major hubs of Ho Chi Minh and Hanoi still see the demand for business and leisure travel, while lesser-known ports like Quy Nhon and Ninh Binh are also becoming increasingly popular.
