There is no doubt that the epitome of luxurious travel is flying with a private jet, as these multimillion-dollar aircraft have been designed to cater to those who have sought more extravagant options when flying, including celebrities. The list of public figures who own business jets includes some of the biggest names in entertainment, such as Taylor Swift and Kendall Jenner, as well as in business, like Mark Cuban or Elon Musk.

However, they also have to be comfortable, considering that some of the planes within this market can fly distances that can rival some commercial widebody aircraft, such as the Bombardier Global 8000’s advertised range of around 8,000 nautical miles (14,816 kilometers). In comparison, none of the Boeing 787 family airliners can fly as far as the Global 8000. Yet unlike any other private jet, the Boeing 787 – or the Airbus A350, for that matter – has a much larger cabin. But how large are the cabins of currently actively produced private jets in terms of floor space? Notably, this list omits the private jets from Airbus and Boeing, which are branded as Airbus Corporate Jets (ACJ) and Boeing Business Jets (BBJ), respectively, which includes such large aircraft as ACJ330neo, ACJ350, BBJ777X, and BBJ787.

5 Dassault Falcon 8X

Much like the following four entries, the Dassault Falcon 8X is a large private jet, which, according to its manufacturer, can seat up to 12 to 26 passengers, with an advertised range of 6,450 NM (11,945 km). However, what sets the Falcon 8X apart is that it is one of the few remaining trijet or three-engine aircraft still in production. While trijets were very popular in the second half of the 20th century, more powerful and efficient twin-engine designs replaced three and four-engine aircraft, both for commercial and private aviation.

In terms of its cabin area, Dassault advertises that the Falcon 8X’s cabin measures 1.88 meters (74 in), 2.34 m (92 in), and 13 m (42.7 ft) in height, width, and length, respectively. As a result, the Falcon 8X has a floor area of 30.4 sq. m (327.2 sq. ft).

4 Dassault Falcon 6X

Unlike its cousin, the Falcon 8X, the Dassault Falcon 6X has a more traditional private jet design, namely that it is powered by two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW812D engines. At the same time, out of the five aircraft listed here, the Falcon 6X is the most recent one since the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and the United States (US) Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) only granted the Dassault Falcon 6X its type certificate (TC) in August 2023.

According to Aviation International News (AIN), Dassault plans to deliver the first aircraft to customers sometime in November 2023, with pilots having started training in early September. Compared to the Falcon 8X, the Falcon 6X is also a bit shorter, with its length being 12.3 m (40. 3 ft), yet its width of 2.58 m (78 in) means that its floor area comes out to 31.7 sq. m (341.5 sq. ft).

3 Bombardier Global 6500

Bombardier’s Global 6500 is one of two currently actively produced Bombardier Global private jet family aircraft, with the other being the much larger Global 7500. The Canadian aircraft manufacturer also plans to launch the Global 8000 sometime in the next few years, with that jet being capable of flying at supersonic speeds.

Still, according to Bombardier, the Global 6500 is described as having a “widest-in-class cabin” that also “provides a spacious environment to push the boundaries of interior design with three distinct living spaces maximizing movement and privacy.” The manufacturer’s specifications indicated that the Global 6500’s cabin is 2.41 m wide (95 in) and 13.18 m (43.3 ft) long, making the aircraft’s floorspace 31.76 sq. m (341 sq. ft).

2 Gulfstream G650ER

Floorspace = 35.5 sq. m (382.1 sq. ft)

The Gulfstream G650ER is just one aircraft within the G600/G700/G800 business jet family, with the G650ER being a derivative of the G600. As the “ER” signifies, Gulfstream added more range to the aircraft throughout its production phase. Notably, neither the G700 nor G800 are being actively delivered to customers just yet, as the FAA only certified the pair’s engines, namely the Rolls-Royce Pearl 700, in September 2023.

Still, the G650ER boasts impressive specification numbers, including a range of 7,500 NM (13,890 km) and seating up to 19 passengers in certain cabin configurations. The cabin itself is 2.49 m (98 in) wide and 16.3 m (53.4 ft) long, making the aircraft’s floor area 35.5 sq. m (382.1 sq. ft).

1 Bombardier Global 7500

Looking at the technical specifications of the Bombardier Global 7500, it is hard not to find the private jet a remarkable piece of engineering. Its maximum advertised range is 7,700 NM (14,260 km), which is more than some commercial widebody aircraft can achieve. According to the Canadian plane maker, the Global 7500 seats up to 19 passengers and features a cabin that can “accommodate four true living spaces with an available Master Suite and full size bed, dedicated crew suite and kitchen.”

And while the Global 7500’s range will be overshadowed by the Global 8000, as the latter can fly up to 8,000 NM (14,816 km), the cabin dimensions of the two aircraft remain the same. The width of the Global 7500’s cabin is 2.44 m (96 in), while the length and height are 16.59 m (54.4 ft) and 1.88 m (74 in), respectively. As a result, the aircraft has a floor area of 40.4 sq. m (434.8 sq. ft).
