Comedian and Hollywood star Jim Carrey has traveled the world in style onboard his Gulfstream V jet. The 25-year-old, 14-seater private jet boasts some incredible features across its lavish interior, including a private bedroom, a gourmet galley and bar, and sleeping capacity for up to six passengers – let’s take a closer look below.
Jim Carrey’s Gulfstream V history
The aircraft (registration: N162JC) was built in 1998 – it has a max range of almost 7,200 miles (down to 5,620 at full capacity) and a max cruising speed of 575 MPH/0.87 Mach.
According to Airly, Carrey purchased the jet for $59 million in 2006, although Aeropodium puts the price at around $40 million – this was a milestone moment in the life of the actor, who had grown up homeless in his teenage years before breaking onto the comedy scene. The jet was then registered under Trans-Exec Air Service – a California-based private jet rental company – in 2009, which managed the plane for Carrey and also rented it out on his behalf.

The Gulfstream V is powered by two Rolls-Royce BR700 engines and offers a longer-than-average range that makes it perfectly suited to international travel. Carrey has embarked on such journeys before, including a trip from California to Ireland back in 2015.

While many private jet owners go for a typically opulent cabin interior, Carrey opted for a more understated and refined look. But don’t be mistaken – the jet still offers an enviable level of comfort with its hand-stitched leather seats and ambient lighting, along with plenty of features to make for an enjoyable journey. This includes a sizable galley to prepare onboard meals, an open bar area, multiple entertainment systems and even a PlayStation.

In terms of seating, the jet offers eight large executive seats and two divans that can seat up to three passengers each. These areas also convert into sleepers – six of them to be precise – and this is not to mention the aft cabin that can transform into a private bedroom complete with a full-size bed, dressing room and private bathroom.
The jet today
It isn’t clear if Carrey still owns the jet outright, has sold it entirely, or is a part-owner, as some sources claim the Gulfstream V has passed into the hands of Harry Evans Sloan, a former Hollywood executive.

What is known is that Carrey used to rent the jet out when he wasn’t using it, reportedly for around $8,000 an hour – SimpleFlying has reached out to Trans-Exec about the jet’s ownership and availability and will update this article accordingly.
According to GuardianJets, there were only 192 Gulfstream V’s built between 1995 and 2002, and there are estimated to be less than 100 left today – along with its private jet capabilities, the jet has also been used as a military and government transport to fly high-ranking officials.
