A spokesperson for Spirit has confirmed to Simple Flying that the plane in question is N932NK. The A320neo jet was delivered to the carrier in June last year from Airbus’ plant in Mobile, Alabama, and has been given a special livery in celebration of the event.
The plane will be parked between a warehouse on FLL’s north side and runway 10L/28R. Cameras will be pointed south towards the aircraft. As airport operations will continue as usual, viewers will be treated to planes taking off and landing in the background.
People miss concerts, Spirit says
The concert will then move outside, where a light-show will play across the plane. In addition to Spirit’s usual livery, the artist’s face will adorn the aft fuselage of the jet. There are also details of an upcoming sweepstakes that will be announced during the evening.
“We know a lot of our Guests miss going to concerts,” Spirit Airlines Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Bobby Schroeter said in a statement seen by Simple Flying.
“Inviting Brett Young to play at the airport is our way of bringing them that experience. We’re giving everyone who attends the concert 100 Free Spirit points to show them how quickly their points add up and how easy it is to redeem them, which they can do for every fare on every flight.” Mr Schroeter continued.
Excited to kick off the year on the runway
The multi-platinum country star with hits such as ‘In case you didn’t know,’ ‘Lady,’ and ‘Mercy’ also wanted to share his thoughts on the event.
“It’s been amazing to team up with our friends from Spirit Airlines and Mastercard for our next virtual show – hope you’re able to tune-in to see all of the cool things they’ve been working on,” Young said.
“I’m so excited to kick off 2021 with fun ways to stay connected until we can all be together again. See y’all on the runway!”
Spirit is also donating 100,000 points to a charity selected by Young. Known as myLIFEspeaks, it is an organization focused on family empowerment, education, public health, and special needs advocacy in Haiti.
The airline serves both Port-au-Prince and, as the only carrier with a scheduled service from the US, Cap-Haitien on the island’s north coast.
