Silver Airways To Begin Service Between New Orleans, Jacksonville

Silver Airways, the Florida-based regional airline, recently announced that it will begin operating non-stop service between New Orleans, La. and Jacksonville, Fla. starting on June 3.

Now entering its tenth year of operation, Silver Airways operates primarily between destinations in Florida and the Caribbean using a fleet consisting entirely of turboprop aircraft. The Silver Airways fleet currently includes the Saab 340, the ATR-42-600, and the ATR-72-600, with the Saab 340 to be retired in favor of the newer ATR aircraft.

The approximately 455 nautical mile flight has a duration of approximately two and a half hours each way. The flight will operate twice weekly on Thursdays and Sundays.  On both days, the outbound flight from Jacksonville to New Orleans departs at 11:35 a.m. and arrives in New Orleans at 1:05 p.m. The return flight back to Jacksonville departs at 1:45 p.m. and arrives at 5:10 p.m.

“We are pleased to welcome Silver Airways to New Orleans with nonstop service to Jacksonville,” Kevin Dolliole, Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport’s Director of Aviation, said in a statement. “We continue to work to provide more opportunities to connect New Orleans to the rest of the country and vice versa. This is just the beginning of what we hope will be a great partnership.”

This new service represents an addition to Silver’s route map.

“We are very excited to serve New Orleans, Louisiana and the surrounding Gulf Coast communities” Steve Rossum, Chief Executive Officer of Silver Airways, said in a statement from the airline. “New Orleans is a vibrant city with a unique culture known for its lively music scene, distinct cuisine, and Southern charm. Steeped in history with deep roots in African, French, and Spanish cultures, the city of New Orleans delivers a charming experience with scenic parks and outdoor activities, countless museums and historical sites showcasing its incredible architecture. We are delighted to arrive in the Big Easy and look forward to providing safe, reliable, and friendly service to the community here.”
