Middle Eastern giant Qatar Airways has announced its winter schedule and is proud to say that by year’s end, it will offer service to 124 destinations. This comes with the continued relaxation of entry restrictions worldwide. The October 2nd announcement comes with an extensive list of every Qatar Airways destination. Let’s look at where the carrier will be flying for this upcoming season.
The slow March towards recovery
It was in January at the Kuwait Aviation Show that Qatar Airways announced eight new destinations, reminding travelers that the airline was continuing its role as one of the world’s ‘most connected airlines.’ Little did they know it would all come crashing down in just two months.
“Eight new destinations will be joining our network this year in addition to the recently announced gateways of Santorini, Greece; Dubrovnik, Croatia; and Osaka, Japan. With these new routes, our operations will expand to 177 destinations around the world, reinforcing our position as one of the world’s most connected airlines. This ensures we can continue to provide our passengers more options and flexibility when planning their business and leisure travel.” -Qatar Airways in January 2020
Of course, come March, its list of destinations had contracted drastically with the sudden shutdown of borders around the world.
Since the onset of the pandemic, Qatar Airways says that it has flown over 175 million kilometers taking home over 2.3 million passengers on over 35,000 flights. They have also operated more than 400 charter flights across the world.
Now, with passenger and cargo demand slowly recovering and international travel restrictions easing, Qatar Airways continues its journey towards restoring its network to its former glory.
A ‘reliable’ winter schedule ‘passengers can trust’
The airline’s CEO emphasizes that passengers will be able to trust the airline with not just its reliable schedule of flights, but also a safe inflight service.

This trust begins by offering an honest schedule of flights that is realistic of the current market conditions and entry restrictions around the world. -His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker, Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive
Al Baker goes on to say that when entry restrictions change and force the carrier to postpone or cancel flights, it will support its passengers with “the most flexible and generous options to reschedule their plans.”
Qatar Airways destinations operating by end of 2020
By the end of 2020, Qatar Airways’ plans to rebuild its network to 124 destinations, including 21 in Africa, 10 in the Americas, 42 in Asia-Pacific, 38 in Europe, and 13 in the Middle East. Many cities will be served with a robust schedule with daily or more frequencies the airline notes.
