With Kolkata added to its route, Akasa Air now has a presence in the 4 major metro cities of India, namely New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai.

The airline offers daily flights to Bengaluru and Guwahati from Kolkata.

By introducing daily flights to Bengaluru and Guwahati, Akasa Air is set to enhance connectivity between these important business and cultural hubs. Another notable leadership figure of Akasa Air is Aditya Ghosh, who co-founded Akasa Air along with Vinay Dube. Ghosh has extensive insight and experience in the Indian aviation sector owing to his prior experience as President and whole-time Director at IndiGo, India’s largest airline.
The airline commenced operations with the financial backing of one of India’s most revered and successful stock traders and investors, the Late Mr. Rakesh Jhunjhunwala. The billionaire investor initially held a 40% stake in the airline by investing US$ 400 million. Before his demise in August 2022, he increased his stake in the airline to 46%.
