Kochi: With 430 active Covid-19 cases, Kerala currently has the highest number of active cases in the country, data from the Union ministry of health and family welfare shows. Kerala has also recorded two Covid-19 deaths this month.
As of May 19, there were 95 active Covid-19 cases in Kerala. Within a week, the active cases increased by nearly five times, indicating the fast spread of Covid-19 infection in the state.
However, doctors treating Covid-19 patients said that most of the patients recover without any hospital admission.
The most common symptoms are severe fatigue, a clogged nose, and a dry cough. However, despite the mild symptoms, patients with comorbidities, especially the elderly population, are vulnerable.
“Kerala has the highest number of active cases, followed by Maharashtra, which has 209 active cases, and Delhi with 104 active cases.
Gujarat has 83, Tamil Nadu has 69 active cases, and Karnataka has 47 active cases. In total, this month there have been seven Covid-19 deaths in the country, with two in Kerala,” said Covid-19 data analyst NC Krishna Prasad.
