JetSMART Increases Itineraries in Argentina and Prepares Its Operation in Peru

JetSMART announced that it will strengthen its services that link Buenos Aires with Córdoba and Neuquén, increasing frequencies and improving schedules.

According to aviacionline, from March 16, the ultra-low-cost carrier will operate ten weekly flights between Buenos Aires / Aeroparque and Córdoba (two daily flights from Tuesday to Thursday and one the rest of the days). It will also maintain two weekly flights between Córdoba and Bariloche.

Also, from the same date, JetSMART will operate six weekly flights from Buenos Aires to Neuquén, which are complemented by the flights that link this city with Salta and Rosario (two weekly flights).

During February, JetSMART’s capacity was reduced by 6%, although the airline noted that in January it fulfilled 100% of scheduled flights (a key issue for people to trust the system again), and reached a punctuality score of 95%.

The month of March will see JetSMART operate with a capacity 10.8% lower than that of the same month last year prior to the pandemic, but if the merger with Norwegian Air Argentina is taken into account, the drop could reach up to 50.1% (-48.1% in domestic)

The airline will operate 15 routes, 5 of them interprovincial (Bariloche – Mendoza, Bariloche – Córdoba, Bariloche – Rosario, Neuquén – Rosario and Neuquén – Salta) and 1 international (Buenos Aires – Santiago de Chile).

On the other hand, on February 17, the company JetSMART Peru was formally established, in which Norma Patricia Siles Álvarez was appointed as General Manager, who will act as the airline’s attorney-in-fact and as the only person signing the documents of JetSMART Airlines Peru.

According to torreeldorado, the ultra-low-cost airline has sent the letter with its intent of operation and its operating manuals to the General Civil Aviation Authority, to obtain the certification as an aeronautical operator as JetSMART Peru.

In order to reinforce its strict hygiene and biosecurity protocol called “Compromiso SMART”, JetSMART airline has updated its hygiene and biosecurity protocols through a new agreement with the disinfectant company Lysol and a new policy for its passengers.

The alliance with Lysol reinforces the carrier’s objective to ensure its passenger’s safety with the use of its high-quality and effective products to eliminate viruses and bacteria, including the COVID-19.

According to a release, the Chilean ultra-low-cost carrier has established new measures that include the prohibition of using valve masks, handkerchiefs or bandanas and plastic mouth guards, due to their low effectiveness in preventing the transmission of the virus.

Only passengers wearing traditional surgical masks, N95 and KN95 (without valves) or handcrafted masks will be allowed to board.

The measure will take effect on March 22 and is part of the recommendations of international organizations, such as the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the World Health Organization (WHO) and government agencies.
