The A320neo is the most common aircraft in Vistara’s fleet, flying on domestic and international routes. This week Simple Flying was invited by Vistara to fly and review its A320neo on a domestic flight. Here is a full cabin tour of the Vistara A320neo!
Vistara offers the A320neo in two setups: a three-class and single-class layout. They feature 156 and 180 seats respectively. On this flight, we had the chance to cover the three-class A320neo, with business, premium economy, and economy cabins.
Business class
Vistara offers a small business class cabin on the A320neo, with eight seats in a 2-2 configuration. The cabin offers passengers a sense of privacy and large seats to relax in, far ahead of the domestic competition.
The seat itself is similar to regional business class products of other major international airlines. While not lie-flat, the seat offers 7″ recline with a leg rest, making for a comfortable seat on short– or medium-haul flights. The large armest in the middle contains a small storage area and drinks holder. With 41″ of pitch the seat offers more than enough room.
Premium economy
Vistara is India’s first carrier to offer premium economy, making it difficult to compare with other carriers. On the A320neo, Vistara offers four rows of premium economy in a standard 3-3 configuration, for a total of 24 seats.
The seats offer slightly more recline and legroom than their economy counterparts, with 4″ of recline and 33″ of pitch. The seats are also better cushioned and feel more comfortable on longer flights. Premium economy’s main selling point remains the privacy and service that the cabin offers over economy.
Economy
Finally, we arrive at the class that most of us will find ourselves seated in. Economy on the A320neo is laid out in a standard 3-3 configuration over 23 rows. The seats offer 29″ of pitch and 3″ of recline, roughly the industry standard for the A320.
Legroom is nothing to write home about but is just enough for short- or medium-haul flights. Passengers can opt for emergency exit seats to increase the legroom. Vistara does offer a well-padded seat, making the seat more comfortable on the longer flights.
As a full-service carrier, Vistara also offers a full meal service in economy class on international flights and certain fares on domestic flights.
Final thoughts
Vistara has an order for 50 A320 and A321 aircraft, which will be delivered in the next few years. The A320neo will continue to play an important role in the fleet, serving domestic and shorter international flights. Vistara continues to shine with its premium product, easily beating the domestic competition and competing with foreign carriers.
