Hawaiian Airlines has announced a travel assistance program for college students. The airline is offering discounts and special perks for college students studying at three Hawaiian universities this fall. In addition, the carrier is also matching HawaiianMiles for universities that purchase miles to provide travel support for students and their families.
A travel discount for college students
Hawaiian Airlines is offering a 5% discount on transpacific flights, two complimentary checked bags, and a flexible booking policy on all flights to fly college students to campus.
Theo Panagiotoulias, the senior vice president for global sales and alliances at Hawaiian Airlines, said the following in a news release viewed by Simple Flying:
“We are delighted to welcome onboard local, out-of-state and international students attending Hawai‘i universities so they can arrive refreshed and ready to resume their studies or begin their higher education. We always look forward to bringing students to Hawai‘i at the start of a new semester, and it will be a specially rewarding experience for us this year.”
The deal is available for college students registered for fall classes at Chaminade University, Hawaii Pacific University, and the University of Hawaii. Collectively, the universities anticipate about 8,000 students may benefit from the program. About 6,100 of these students are expected to arrive in Hawaii from the mainland United States and international destinations.
The discounted tickets and baggage allowances are valid when booking travel at a special portal available through the universities. The booking is valid through December 31st. Students will receive a free change in case of shifting travel plans and international restrictions.
Matching HawaiianMiles
Universities also assist students when it comes to travel needs. Some of this is done through the use of purchased miles that go toward booking travel– miles can be a good deal for redemptions.
So, for universities that purchase HawaiianMiles, Hawaiian Airlines is going to match those miles through the end of the year.
