Frontier Airlines is celebrating its operations and growth at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport by hosting events and offering a chance for people to win free flights. The airline has also introduced a limited offer for members of the public to win a bonus of 20,000 miles from Dallas/Fort Worth for bookings made between certain days this month. The airline also wants public opinion on the name of a new Texas-inspired plane tail animal.
Free flights and bonus miles
To celebrate its commitment to Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), ultra-low-cost carrier Frontier Airlines will give away hundreds of free flights during events in Plano and Fort Worth on March 22nd and 23rd.
Members of the public can attend the event at Legacy Food Hall in Plano on March 22nd at 4 p.m. and/ or at Birdie’s Social Club in Fort Worth on March 23rd at 4 p.m. The airline has organized Frontier-themed games and offered a chance to win free flights.

Additionally, people can take advantage of a 20,000 FRONTIER Miles℠ offer for those booking round-trip travel from DFW between March 21-27 and completing travel before June 15th, 2023, with the promo code GET20k. Flights need to be purchased directly with Frontier. The airline has said that flights purchased before March 21st, but not yet flown, are not eligible for this promotion.
Naming the bird
Frontier airplanes feature an animal on their tail with a special name and backstory, and this time, it has invited people to participate in naming a bird for a new Texas-inspired plane tail.
The bird is a golden-cheeked warbler, an endangered species that calls Texas home. It is the only bird with a breeding area endemic to the state. People can vote in person at the Texas events or via social media channels and choose among the following three names:
- J.R. – Inspired by the famed character from the hit TV show Dallas
- Emmitt – A nod to Emmitt Smith, a favorite former Dallas Cowboys player
- Chisholm – An homage to the popular hiking and cycling trail in the northern suburbs
Commitment to Dallas Fort Worth
Frontier’s network out of Dallas Fort-Worth is quite extensive and is set to expand even further in the coming months. In May, the airline will start non-stop services to five new destinations out of DFW – Montego Bay, Jamaica (MBJ), Baltimore (BWI), New York-La Guardia (LGA), Raleigh-Durham (RDU), and Orange County (SNA). By May, Frontier will serve a total of 20 markets from DFW.
Last year, the airline also announced a new crew base at DFW, set to open in May. The base is expected to employ up to 120 pilots and 220 flight attendants within its first year of operation. Combined with airport positions, Frontier could generate more than $78 million annually in local wages.
