Frontier Airlines Announces Latest Network Expansion
Denver-based Frontier Airlines announced on Tuesday that it is expanding its network with 20 new routes and five new cities, including service to its 7th New York airport: Stewart International in New Windsor. The flights, which will primarily operate out of Orlando International Airport, will begin in November to meet winter demand to sunny destinations. To celebrate the expansion, the airline is offering introductory fares starting at $25 one-way.
Frontier is starting service to five new cities, including expanding its presence in New York State. The carrier will begin service from Stewart International Airport to Orlando International Airport on Oct. 25. Meanwhile, flights to Miami International Airport and Tampa International Airport from Stewart will start on Nov. 2.
In addition to Stewart, Frontier will also serve four new beach destinations – Antigua & Barbuda; Belize City; Liberia, Costa Rica and Turks & Caicos. The airline will fly from Denver and Orlando to Belize City on Saturdays beginning Dec 11. Service to Antigua & Barbuda, Liberia and Turks & Caicos will only operate from Orlando.
Antigua and Barbuda flights will operate once weekly on Saturdays beginning Dec. 4. Services to Liberia fly twice weekly on Tuesdays and Sundays beginning Nov. 11. Turks and Caicos: once weekly on Fridays beginning Dec. 17
In addition to the three beach destinations, Frontier’s focus city of Orlando will also serve 13 other airports, giving passengers plenty of vacation options in the United States, Central America, Mexico and the Caribbean. The 14 cities are New Winsdor, New York; Bentonville, Arkansas; Fort Myers, Florida; Harlingen, Texas; Pensacola, Florida; Sioux Falls, South Dakota; El Paso, Texas; Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Fargo, North Dakota; Cozumel, Mexico; Nassau, The Bahamas; Montego Bay, Jamaica and San Salvador, El Salvador.
Frontier’s new cities will focus on beach destinations to meet high winter demand. Tourism officials in Antigua and Barbuda are particularly excited about the new low-cost service because it will make the market more competitive and link the dual-island nation with many U.S. cities.
Antigua and Barbuda’s minister of tourism, Charles Fernandez, said, “The launch of the new service out of the busy Orlando airport opens up an important gateway to Antigua, with links to major U.S. cities. We can now look forward to meeting the increased demand coming out of the U.S. this winter and from all indications, we can also expect to see more competitive pricing brought on by Frontier Airlines’ affordable rates.”
Meanwhile, Colin C. James, CEO of the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority, added, “Those additional 186 passengers every Saturday will certainly go a long way in providing us with the alternative options that we need from other gateway cities in the U.S.A. into Antigua.”
