Business is picking up at Miami International Airport following the downturn caused by the coronavirus pandemic. Some of the airlines resuming flights to the airport are key European operators.
Back in action
Many European services are currently serving the South Florida hub. There are still restrictions for most general passengers, but following some amendments, demand is slowly returning.
According to Travel News Daily, Air Europa restarted weekly flights to Miami from Madrid on August 3rd. The Spanish carrier will be glad to be heading back to this transatlantic destination. The airline has had several of his operations across the Americas rocked. With Latin American services only just re-emerging, any progress would be welcome for the company.
Meanwhile, SWISS resumed two weekly trips from Zurich on August 4th. The flag carrier of Switzerland usually serves regular services across the United States. So, it will be hoping to take advantage of the advances made in the last month.
Any progress is good progress
These airlines join several other European outfits that did not halt operations or have already resumed services to Miami this summer. These carriers include:

- British Airways
- Lufthansa
- SWISS
- TAP Air Portugal
- Turkish Airlines
Other airlines serving routes at Miami include:

- Delta Air Lines
- Frontier Airlines
- LATAM Airlines
- United Airlines

- Caribbean Airlines
- Eastern Airlines
In the middle of July, international students coming from Europe were made exempt United States’ travel ban. Moreover, there are other exemptions, such as spouses and children of certain foreign workers coming to the United States.
Last month, Miami International Airport served more than 28,000 daily passengers. This figure is an excellent improvement on the 6,000 daily passengers in April. There are further services expected to resume over the next few months as restrictions continue to be relaxed.
The saga continues
Nonetheless, as the pandemic continues to evolve, schedules are subject to change. There may be swift amendments in government policy, like previous events this year. Therefore, travelers should check official policies and airline information before booking and heading for the airport.
Altogether, it is great to see that airlines are continuing to expand again following the pandemic’s shakeup. However, these carriers won’t be entirely fulfilled until there are further restrictions for more travelers.
