Delta will be flying to Dubrovnik

Starting July 2nd this summer, Delta Air Lines will be flying between Croatia’s Dubrovnik Airport (DBV) and New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK). Delta has never operated flights to Croatia before.

Delta’s schedule on the route will be as follows:

  • DL184 departing New York JFK at 19:30 and arriving into Dubrovnik at 10:45 the next day
  • DL185 departing Dubrovnik at 13:00 and arriving into Dubrovnik at 17:15 the next day

Flights from the US to Croatia will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Flights on the way back from Dubrovnik will be on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

Delta will operate these flights with its 226-seat Boeing 767-300 aircraft featuring full-flat Delta One beds, Delta Comfort+, and Main Cabin service. The flights to Dubrovnik will connect from and onto 44 of Delta’s domestic routes into JFK.

Croatia is open for US tourists

Croatia has already opened up for tourists. Arriving passengers do not need to quarantine if they have been fully vaccinated, if they have a negative PCR test, or if they have proof of recovery from COVID-19 in the last six months.

Croatia’s Minister of Tourism, Nikolina Brnjac, commented on this news by saying:

“We are extremely pleased with the decision of Delta Air Lines to establish the NY-Dubrovnik route this summer. (…) Our national Safe Stay in Croatia label ensures the highest epidemiological standards for tourists and we look forward to welcoming back American tourists very soon.”

Meanwhile, Delta’s Senior Vice President for Network Planning, Joe Esposito, said:

“More countries are easing restrictions for vaccinated travelers, and we’re ready to help reconnect people to their lives and loved ones.”

Big push for US-Croatia flights

This is the third announcement of a new route launch between Croatia and the USA in just a month. Last year, no airlines operated direct flights between the USA and Croatia after American Airlines canceled its daily Dubrovnik-Philadelphia route which was meant to operate daily in the peak summer months.

Meanwhile, UK company Pragusa. One is planning to wet lease an Airbus A330-300 aircraft and operate flights between Dubrovnik and New York (EWR) from next month, starting on 21st June.

At the same time, United Airlines has scheduled flights between New York (EWR) and Dubrovnik too, as a summer seasonal service as well. These flights will be operated by Boeing 767 aircraft, just like Delta’s will be.
