Croatian airports are preparing for the upcoming peak travel season with the country to see an increase in the number of nonstop flights and airlines. A total of 485 routes to 122 cities in 42 countries operated by 52 airlines will be on offer to travellers. As a result, capacity levels during the 2025 summer season are expected to increase by 7.7% on the same period last year. The Croatian National Tourist Board has been focusing on improving traffic volumes during the pre- and post- peak travel season and has allocated three million euros for strategic partnerships, among which are airlines. “This year we have allocated over three million euros for strategic partnerships, including cooperation with airlines. In this context, we expect an increase in the number of planned operations, marking a record compared to last year’s summer flight schedule, which will have a positive impact on the overall tourism results”, the head of the Croatian National Tourist Board, Kristjan Staničić, said.

Commenting on the importance of improving air traffic volumes outside of the busy travel period, Mr Staničić noted, “Air traffic is extremely important for Croatian tourism, especially in terms of demand from long-haul source markets. Our goal is to improve air connectivity with foreign countries every year. This is especially important for our southern destinations, which are more reliant on air transport, and in the context of achieving the strategic goal of strengthening pre- and post-season leisure traffic”. He added, “Air connectivity is extremely important outside the peak season because of the better accessibility of our destinations. This means that we must actively encourage the launch of new routes, but also to ensure an earlier start, and focus strongly on programs that connect key source geo-zones with Croatia”.

Croatia is expected to have 14.340.865 seats on scheduled services for the duration of the summer season. The largest volume of flights this summer is expected from Germany, followed by the UK, Italy, France and Poland. During the peak summer period, Croatia will be mainly linked to European destinations, however, others include points in the United States, Canada, South Korea, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar. Ryanair will cement its position as the country’s largest airline, ahead of Croatia Airlines, easyJet and Eurowings.
