Caribbean Airlines has announced it will re-establish its commercial services from Trinidad and Tobago to Curaçao and Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The flights to these two destinations will be available within the next two months.

Caribbean Airlines is looking to resume its flights from Piarco International Airport (POS) in Trinidad and Tobago to Hollywood International Airport in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
The return of the service to Fort Lauderdale “comes just in time to facilitate summer travel bookings,” said the airline in a statement. It also complements Caribbean Airlines’ current schedule to Miami and Orlando.
By adding this third Florida destination to the Caribbean Airlines network, the company aims to give customers more flexibility and a choice of convenient travel times between Trinidad and the United States.
The airline will employ its Boeing 737-800 or Boeing 737 MAX fleet to serve Fort-Lauderdale.
As of March 2022, Caribbean Airlines operates 283 scheduled flights to the United States. It has daily flights from Port-of-Spain to Miami and Georgetown to New York JFK. The airline also flies to Miami, Orlando, and Houston.
Once Caribbean Airlines resume its service to Fort Lauderdale, it will have two weekly flights on Friday and Sunday. The flights will begin on May 20, 2022. Flight BW480 from POS will depart at 10:45 local time, and the service back, BW481, will depart Fort Lauderdale at 17:15 local time.

Back to Curaçao
Similarly, Caribbean Airlines is looking to resume its twice weekly service between Trinidad and Curaçao. The airline will begin flying to the Dutch island starting on April 5, 2022.
Non-stop, return flights between Piarco International in Port-of-Spain, and Curaçao International Airport will operate each Tuesday and Friday. The schedule is timed to facilitate convenient regional and international connections through the Caribbean Airlines network.
Caribbean Airlines will operate the route with its Boeing 737 fleet, said the carrier in a statement.
On Tuesdays, flight BW400 from POS will leave at 14:00, local time, while flight BW401 from Curaçao will depart at 14:40, local time. On Fridays, BW800 will leave at 15:20, and BW401 will depart at 18:20.
Caribbean Airlines schedule
Caribbean Airlines has a fleet of 20 aircraft, according to data provided by ch-aviation. It operates seven ATR 72-600, five Boeing 737 MAX 8, and eight Boeing 737-800. Currently, four aircraft are inactive.
As of March 2022, Caribbean Airlines scheduled 1,371 flights, offering 144,808 seats in its routes. Nonetheless, due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, Caribbean Airlines is still 49.3% below in terms of the flights provided and 47.8% in terms of capacity.
To understand the impact of the pandemic and travel restrictions, we have to take a look at Caribbean Airlines’ main route between Port-of-Spain and Tobago. Prior to the pandemic, in March 2019, the airline offered 627 flights. It is currently only serving 248 flights, 60.4% below its pre-pandemic traffic levels.
Nonetheless, Caribbean Airlines has had some great news in 2022. In January, the airline operated its first Boeing 737 MAX 8 flight connecting Port-of-Spain with Kingston, Jamaica.
Next month, the airline announced it is exploring possibilities to launch a partnership with Qatar Airways.
