Blue Air Announces Italian Expansion
Romania’s Blue Air has announced that it will strengthen its strategic position in Italy with new routes and additional flights to Turin, Italy starting September 2020, the airline announced in a press release.
The airline is slated to enhance its operations in Italy by deploying an additional aircraft to its Turin base in September. The deployment will enable Blue Air to launch three new routes from Turin and increase current flight frequencies on domestic routes.
The Bucharest-based airline plans to operate flights on seven domestic routes from Turin with a twice-a-day service to Catania ad a daily service to Lamezia Terme, Bari and Cagliari. The new flights are in addition to the airline’s existing flights to Naples, Alghero and Trapani.

With the latest expansion Italy, the airline aims at becoming a front-runner among airlines in Central and Eastern Europe. Blue Air has recently announced another expansion with five new routes from Bacau, Romania starting on Oct. 1 as soon as the modernization process at Bacau Airport is completed.
With the end of airport closure, the airline will provide direct connections between Moldova and Transylvania, a region in central Romania, and launch flights to new destinations in Romania, Germany and France. The airline will allocate three aircraft to its Bacau base and fly to 13 destinations from its Bacau starting Oct. 1.

Blue Air is also launching a number of new routes out of Bacau, focusing on international routes. The airline is resuming a number of services and launcing new services to Paris and Cologne and Munich, Germany in addition to domestic routes from Bacau to Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca.

Blue Air is the largest Romanian airline by scheduled passengers transported. The airline currently operates two Boeing 737-300s, six Boeing 737-500s and 10 Boeing 737-800 aircraft and employs over 1,000 people.
