WestJet represents a great-value way for Canadians to cross the North Atlantic Ocean. Some of its transatlantic routes serve London Gatwick, which offers an exciting range of onward connections to European destinations. Let’s have a look at these, some of which are around the CAD$300 mark for a one-stop economy class return this October!
The flights
WestJet flies directly from several Canadian cities to London’s second-largest airport, Gatwick (LGW). It does so using Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, which it has operated since 2019. WestJet’s fleet now includes six Dreamliner, which provide a great-value means of crossing the Atlantic in style and comfort, while also providing superior fuel efficiency than its older 767s.
Some of the itineraries in question feature one transatlantic leg with WestJet, and the other with Air Transat. Air Transat is another Canadian carrier that also serves London Gatwick, primarily using Airbus A330 on its transatlantic routes from numerous Canadian airports.
This once again provides useful onward connectivity to various European destinations. In the cases we have found, these connections are provided by all-Airbus low-cost carrier easyJet. They include the Bavarian state capital of Munich, Germany (MUC), as well as Madrid, Spain (MAD).

The dates
You can find and book tempting itineraries from WestJet’s hub at Calgary International Airport (YYC) to Munich via London Gatwick at the links below.
Meanwhile, this link showcases an exciting one-stop connection from Toronto Pearson (YYZ) to Madrid.
It is worth noting that some of the connections in Gatwick are overnight. Nonetheless, these great value itineraries make for a very attractive prospect that will hopefully be possible, restrictions permitting, towards the end of the year!
