With over 500 weekly flights and more than 15 unique routes across 12 cities, Akasa Air is one of the world’s fastest-growing low-cost carriers.
India’s newest low-cost carrier, Akasa Air, only commenced operations earlier this year in August. However, the airline has been progressing tremendously quickly, with the latest addition of its 12th destination, the city of Goa, to a fast-growing route network. Akasa Air will connect Goa with several commercial cities, boosting economic growth and increasing the tourist footprint.
An anticipated take-off from Goa Manohar International Airport
Flight services from Goa will commence on January 11th, with Akasa Air offering two daily flights from the tourism hub to Bengaluru and another two daily flights to Mumbai. The budget carrier will be taking off from the newly inaugurated Goa Manohar International Airport (MOPA), as celebrated by Co-Founder and Chier Commercial Officer Praveen Iyer:
“We are pleased to announce our 12th destination, Goa, with flights from one of the newest airports inaugurated by our Honourable Prime Minister. We are excited to connect Goa with two of our strong metro cities in the South and West, Bengaluru & Mumbai. The commencement of this route will enable us to enhance connectivity between these cities while offering our signature warm and efficient service to our passengers.

An expanded new launch
And if launching new routes from a new network addition wasn’t a significant enough expansion for Akasa Air, the budget carrier will be adding six-times-weekly frequency for services between Goa and Mumbai the following day on January 12th. Then from February 1st, a third daily frequency for services between Goa and Bengaluru will be launched.
Right off the bat from its new launch, the airline will offer five daily departures from Goa to the two commercial cities, as confirmed by Iyer as he highlighted:
“We launch Goa with five daily departures connecting to Bengaluru and Mumbai. Goa is one of the most popular tourist destinations within India all year round. It has also emerged as a manufacturing base for several leading companies that constantly require greater connectivity to metro cities. Our operations from the city will cater to business and leisure travelers who are on the lookout for convenient and affordable flying options.”

Bottom line
With over 500 weekly flights and more than 15 unique routes across 12 cities, Akasa Air is one of the world’s fastest-growing low-cost carriers. And besides an expanded route network, the budget carrier has been progressively enhancing its fleet, having just received its 10th aircraft less than a week ago. Given its momentum since its launch in August, Akasa Air will remain a force to be reckoned with next year, especially if its goal of establishing itself internationally becomes a reality.
