Airline Tail Bottle Stoppers: The Big Next Avgeek Craze?

Must read

Looking for a new way to show your favorite airline some love? Well, aviation souvenir store FirstFlightOut is releasing a new set of bottle stoppers topped with realistic miniature airline tails. The collection currently includes 14 different livery designs, and we’re a little bit obsessed.

If you’re anything like us, you’ve probably been missing flying over the past year. If you’re a lot like us, you might have opened a bottle of wine to drown your sorrows while you wait for travel restrictions to lift. You can now enjoy a glass of something nice and finish it up with a rather exciting bottle stopper.

FirstFlightOut.com has launched a range of patent-pending Airline Tails™️ Bottle Stoppers, which are as much show stoppers as they are bottle stoppers. The company partnered with Atlantic Models to create hand-painted designs which are made to exacting, realistic standards. The result is a stunning collection of bottle stops that look at home in the kitchen or a museum.

Classic historical livery

The company said it wanted to pay tribute to the major airlines, which helped shape the industry we know and love today. The collection celebrates the history of the industry during one of the most difficult periods. The list of designs available for purchase includes AirCal, Allegheny Airlines, America West, American Airlines (new livery), American Airlines (silver bird), Eastern Airlines, National Airlines, Ozark Air Lines, Pan Am, Piedmont, PSA, Reno Air, TWA (Double Globe livery), and US Airways.

Each tail is 3 inches tall with a 2-inch stopper on the bottom. The tail length is 2.5 inches. The designs are available for pre-order from the firstflightout.com website for $39.95 and will be available from June 15th. A portion of all profits from the sale of the collection will be donated to the Air History Project. This not-for-profit organization promotes aviation education. It also works to preserve the history of commercial aviation for avgeeks all over the world.

Celebrating the aviation community

Speaking to Simple Flying about what inspired the new collection, Gailen David, one of the founders of FirstFlightOut.com, said

“During the pandemic, I wanted to reconnect to what truly brings me joy. It’s always been aviation, travel, and wine. I found that so many people I know share these passions. Airline Tails bottle stoppers allow us to reflect on our fondest travel memories and dream of our next adventures as we sip my favorite wine or cocktail or marvel at the beauty of the Airline Tail designs.”

Even if you’re stuck at home for a bit longer, you can enjoy a glass of your favorite wine while celebrating some of the industry giants. If you want the whole airline experience, American Airlines sells some of its onboard wine, which you could top off with an American Airlines wine stopper. You could even enjoy your glass of wine in your very own Airbus A340 seat.

No matter how much you miss flying, there are plenty of companies working to keep the spirit of the industry alive. Since you can’t spend your money on plane tickets, you can at least create an at-home flight experience complete with airline wine, glass, and bottle stopper.

Will you be pre-ordering one of the bottle stoppers? Which livery is your favorite? Let us know in the comments!
