Airbus today announced the launch of a new mobile app called TripSet. The app is designed to provide users with all the necessary information for their journey. The aircraft manufacturer hopes the app will inspire confidence and encourage more people to start traveling again.
A new app
Travel restrictions, testing requirements, and changing schedules are continuing to present problems for passengers, leading to low passenger confidence levels. However, Airbus hopes to combat this by allowing travelers to learn all relevant information in one easy-to-use app.
The Tripset app will pull information from multiple sources regarding restrictions, entry requirements, or changes to schedules so passengers can stay up to date. The app will provide real-time information to help ensure every journey is as smooth as possible.
What can the app do?
The app, based on the existing iflyA380 app, will have two interfaces. The first is accessible before purchasing a ticket. This section of the app will allow passengers to see which flights are available, to which destinations, and information about the airports themselves.
After purchasing a ticket, the app will display information specific to the airline, flight, airport, and destination. This includes ensuring passengers know which tests they need before flying, what they need to do on arrival, and even which aircraft they are traveling on.
In a statement on its website, Airbus said it hopes the app will restore passenger confidence in staying safe while traveling. Airbus commented,
“Tripset is part of Airbus’ continuing commitment, alongside airlines, industry partners, and regulatory agencies, to encourage the flying public to keep trust in air travel, supporting the safe and well-coordinated return to flight, which is essential for economic recovery from COVID-19.”
Restoring confidence
Even as early as last July, The International Air Transport Association (IATA) released a statement saying passenger confidence levels would be key to recovery across the aviation sector. The IATA conducted a survey that conclusively proved that people were wary of making bookings due to changing restrictions and the fear of making a mistake regarding testing or quarantining when traveling.
Now, just over a year since the pandemic began, the IATA has released another survey that states that although international travel confidence is returning, changing restrictions is still a major concern. According to the survey, 84% of people would be reluctant to book a ticket if there was even a chance of quarantining upon arrival. The same percentage of people said they believe restrictions will persist, and we will have to grow accustomed to a new normal. This new normal will involve fluctuating restrictions that we will all have to navigate.
Airbus’s new TripSet app is designed for use around the world regardless of country, airline, airport, or aircraft, with the aim to encourage travel globally. US travel figures are on the way up, as are other domestic markets around the world. Perhaps this app will be the push people need to feel comfortable flying internationally again. The app is suitable for iOS and Android.
