Aerolíneas Argentinas is on a route network expansion as it increases frequencies and launches a route resumption. Beginning next month, the airline will first increase the frequency of its flights on the Buenos Aires-Montevideo route, upgrading from 19 to 24 flight operations per week.
The increment comes just after the Argentine flag carrier increased flight frequencies last month. And also happening in October, Aerolíneas Argentinas will resume connections between Bariloche and Tucumán and further upgrade another route from being seasonal to all year-round.
More flights to Montevideo
This month, the number of offered seats on the Buenos Aires-Montevideo route was approximately 36.2% lower than during the same month in 2019. Aerolíneas Argentinas is currently the only airline that serves this route after Amaszonas Uruguay became defunct.
The new schedule will see Aerolíneas Argentinas operating the route on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, allowing it to have a minimum of three daily flight services between the two cities and reaching for four daily services on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays.
Aerolíneas Argentinas will operate the route using a mix of its Embraer E-190, Boeing 737-700, and -800 aircraft. With the new frequencies and modifications in the type of aircraft in October, the airline will offer approximately 30,400 seats monthly. Though it might not be close to pre-pandemic levels, it’s still an improvement.

The presence of the Argentine airline in Uruguay is further complemented by four weekly flight services offered on the Buenos Aires-Punta del Esta route, and the increased frequencies for Montevideo strengthen the airline’s commitment to the region. Pablo Ceriani, President of Aerolíneas Argentinas, emphasized:
“This expansion for Montevideo is part of our work in the region’s markets. A robust and varied offer regarding frequencies, schedules, and connection possibilities is key to continue promoting receptive tourism.”
Connecting Bariloche and Tucumán
Also happening next month, on October 3rd, is the resumption of connections between Bariloche and Tucumán as Aerolíneas Argentinas inaugurates flights after a three-year hiatus. The flights will be operated on the airline’s 170-seater Boeing 737-800, enabling a weekly capacity of approximately 340 seats.
Flight number | Departure time | Arrival time | Frequency |
AR 1476 (TUC – BRC) | 10:00 | 12:40 | Mondays |
AR 1477 (BCR – TUC) | 14:40 | 17:10 | Wednesdays |
LATAM Argentina was the last airline to operate flight services between both cities, having partly cited the blame on Argentina’s government. Fortunately, this route seems likely to stick around as Aerolíneas Argentinas scheduled it to remain regular throughout the year.
From seasonal to all year-round
Earlier in July, Argentina’s biggest airline inaugurated its flight services between Salta and Bariloche, but it was meant to be a seasonal service for the winter period. Given the relative popularity of the route, Aerolíneas Argentinas has decided to continue the route as regularly scheduled flight operations even in the off-season.
Flight number | Departure time | Arrival time | Frequency |
AR 1466 (SLA – BRC) | 15:20 | 18:05 | Tuesdays |
AR 1467 (BCR – SLA) | 15:00 | 17:35 | Saturdays |
Similar to the Bariloche-Tucumán routes, the new once-weekly frequency for the Salta-Bariloche route will also begin on October 3rd. The airline’s Boeing 737-800 will also be used, offering about 340 seats weekly.
