20 ULTRA-FAST CHARGING POINTS: Located at 276 Paseo de la Castellana, opposite the Four Towers, it is scheduled to become operational in 2027
ACCIONA has won the contract, awarded by the Madrid regional government, to build and operate the largest 100% renewable public EV charging hub within Madrids M-30 ring road. The facility will have a total installed capacity of 4,000 kilowatts and is expected to be completed and operational in 2027.
The charging hub will have 20 ultra-fast charging points of up to 400kW 19 for regular cars and one for heavy-duty vehicles as well as a battery-swapping station for Silence electric vehicles.
The 1,281-square-meter site is located at 276 Paseo de la Castellana, a prime location opposite the citys Four Towers business district and within the future Madrid Nuevo Norte development area.
The project will transform a former petrol station that is no longer in use into a next-generation electric mobility infrastructure, conceived not only as a charging point but as an open, accessible urban space aligned with the citys decarbonization goals and efforts to improve quality of life.
The facility, which will be operated by ACCIONA for 30 years, will use 100% certified renewable energy to charge the vehicles. It will also incorporate an energy system with solar panels for self-consumption, achieving not only energy self-sufficiency but also generating a net annual surplus of more than 35,000kWh. The hub will also feature a photocatalytic façade that will actively remove pollutants and purify the air, as well as a real-time renewable energy traceability system.
Designed as a mobility hub, the new charging station will integrate the charging points and a user services area under a single canopy. The building will include a vending area and accessible restrooms on the ground floor, as well as a multipurpose space on the first floor dedicated to outreach and events related to electric mobility, reinforcing its public and educational role.
The project stands out for its strong environmental and architectural components, with a design that prioritizes sustainable, low-impact materials such as wood, photocatalytic ceramic, and locally sourced natural stone.
With this project, ACCIONA reinforces its role as a key player in the electrification of urban transport and in the development of infrastructure that combines technological innovation, environmental sustainability, and social value, anticipating the city model of the future.
The company provides access to more than 5,000 charging points in urban areas and along the main intercity corridors across Spain and Portugal.
