CaixaBank guarantees financial inclusion in 266 towns with less than 100 inhabitants thanks to the mobile branch service

CaixaBank guarantees financial inclusion thanks to the mobile branch service in a total of 266 towns with fewer than 100 inhabitants without a bank branch or with restrictions that limit access to financial services.  At the end of the first half of the year, 213 of the smaller towns in which the office buildings provide services are in Castilla y León, 22 in Catalonia, 17 in La Rioja, ten in the Community of Madrid and four in Castilla-La Mancha.


In Castilla y León, the bank offers banking coverage in towns with a population of less than one hundred inhabitants in a total of 109 towns of Ávila, 65 of León, 23 of Segovia, 11 of Burgos and five of Palencia.  In addition, in Catalonia, it provides services in nine towns with fewer than 100 inhabitants in Lleida, seven in Barcelona, five in Tarragona and one in Girona. It also guarantees financial inclusion in 17 small towns in La Rioja, ten in the Community of Madrid and four towns in Guadalajara.


In its commitment to financial inclusion, of the aforementioned towns served by CaixaBank’s mobile branches, a total of 80 have a population of less than 50 inhabitants: 70 are in Castilla y León, five in Catalonia and another five in La Rioja.


CaixaBank guarantees financial inclusion with its mobile branches in around 1,400 towns and is also the only bank with a banking branch model in 460 towns in Spain. It has 4,000 branches across the country and is present in more than 2,230 municipalities in all Spanish provinces.


The office buildings offer financial coverage in a total of 1,396 towns at risk of financial exclusion at the end of the first half of the year, compared to the 804 towns they reached in mid-2024, which represents a 74% increase in one year.


With its mobile branches, CaixaBank provides service in towns where more than 640,000 people live and 70% of its users are over 65 years old, which highlights the bank’s commitment to the senior group.


The office-mobile service allows users, whether or not they are customers of the bank, to carry out the most common banking operations, including withdrawing cash, making deposits and paying bills and taxes in towns without a bank branch or with restrictions that limit access to financial services.


A total of 33 mobile branches


CaixaBank has a total of 33 mobile branches, 29 of which cover more than 75,000 kilometres on average a month and provide service in 17 provinces of seven autonomous communities: Ávila, Burgos, León, Palencia and Segovia, in Castile and León; Ciudad Real, Guadalajara and Toledo, in Castile-La Mancha; Castellón and Valencia, in the Valencian Community; Granada, in Andalusia, the Community of Madrid, La Rioja and the four provinces of Catalonia.


In addition, the bank has four other office buildings in reserve to attend business, cultural and sporting events, as well as exceptional contingencies such as the DANA that hit the Valencia, Castile-La Mancha and Andalusia regions in October 2024.


Each mobile branch has different daily routes and, depending on the demand, visits the towns to which it provides service between one and four times a month.


Mobile branches in seven autonomous communities


Castilla y León, with eleven ofimóviles, is the autonomous community in which the service has the most presence in all of Spain.  In Catalonia there are nine mobile branches, two mobile branches are located in La Rioja, the Valencian Community, the Community of Madrid and Castilla-La Mancha, while the province of Granada is served by a mobile branch.


CaixaBank’s office mobiles in Castilla y León cover more than 32,000 kilometres and provide service in a total of 619 towns where more than 126,000 people live.  Ávila is the province with the highest number of towns served in all of Spain, a total of 223, and in León, the mobile branches provide service in 172 towns.


In addition, in Segovia, the office buildings provide financial coverage to 105 towns; in Palencia they reach 73 towns, and in Burgos they offer service in 46 towns.


In Catalonia, CaixaBank offers services through its mobile branches in a total of 459 towns in which 290,000 people reside.  Offimovils travel over 18,000 kilometres a month to guarantee access to financial services in a total of 120 towns in Barcelona, 119 in Girona, 117 in Lleida and 103 in Tarragona.


In La Rioja, the bank’s two mobile branches cover 78 towns with more than 19,000 inhabitants, covering 4,850 kilometres throughout the month.


In Castilla-La Mancha, the office mobiles cover 7,300 kilometres a month and provide service in 62 towns and cities where nearly 50,000 people live.  In Guadalajara, a mobile branch serves 32 towns; in Ciudad Real it covers 28 towns and in Toledo, two towns.


In the Valencian Community, CaixaBank’s two mobile branches cover 6,200 kilometres a month and provide services in 70 towns, 39 of Valencia and 31 of Castellón, where around 73,000 people live.


Similarly, the two mobile branches that they attend in the Community of Madrid, in a journey of 6,000 kilometres a month, allow carry out banking operations in 72 towns with more than 60,000 inhabitants, and the route in Granada provides service to the town of 36 towns at risk of financial exclusion with almost 25,000 inhabitants in a journey that exceeds the 2,500 kilometres a month.
