Indore: More than 250 hospitals in Indore on Wednesday followed the instructions to install red cross signs on their roofs and ensure no light was visible from outside during the 12-minute blackout in the evening.

Chief medical and health officer Dr BS Setiya said “There are 253 govt and private hospitals in the district that operate in considerably large structures.

We approached all the hospital officials to follow the instructions of installing red cross signs that should be well visible. During the blackout, the hospitals were also instructed to keep all the lights off and cover the windows with curtains.”

“The hospitals were informed that medical services could continue inside, but no light should be visible from the outside,” he said, adding that the hospitals followed the instructions as they were also asked to prepare their own plan for the emergency arrival of patients in case of reporting ‘mass casualties’.
