Today India’s newest airline Akasa Air released details about a new menu for its inflight meal service, Café Akasa. The new menu has more than 60 meal options to choose from, which the airline said are a mix of healthy meals, festive favorites, gourmet and fusion meals.
Akasa Air said it had refreshed its Café Akasa menu in response to customer preferences and consumer dining trends while at the same time staying true to its promise of fresh and innovative offerings. Since starting operations in August last year, Akasa Air has steadily built up a following and refreshing the menu is another step in keeping ahead of its competitors.

The airline currently operates a fleet of 19 Boeing 737 MAX 8s with another 72 on order. These new-generation narrowbodies are fulfilling the airline’s promise to be an environmentally friendly company with one of the “youngest and greenest fleets in the Indian skies.”
Co-founder and chief marketing and experience officer Belson Coutinho said the new menu came about in response to resounding, positive feedback from the airline’s customers. He added:
“The new menu presents a highly evolved assortment of multi-cuisine, tasty and healthy meals, ensuring that there is something to cater to a wide-ranging culinary preference, as we uphold our ethos of serving a high quality, elevated flying experience to our valued customers.”
If you are already a fan of Café Akasa, then you will be pleased to know that the popular Kathi Roll, Mediterranean Bagelwich and Mushroom and Brie Croissant will continue to feature on the refreshed menu. Those looking for new taste treats will have much to choose from among the hearty meals, snacks, festive meals and indulgent desserts, such as the Tikka Tok Twist, Poi with Cafreal and Go Bananas shown below:
Other new dishes include Avocado and Tomato Croissant, Mushroom and Feta Quiche, Chicken Kahori Kebab Turnover, Oats and Berry Muffins and Orzo Duck Salad. Regional delicacies such as Misal Pav, Biryani and Idli Sambar are on the list, along with Care-free-al Poi, a traditional Goan chicken cafreal with greens and coconut mayo in freshly baked poi bread.
Plenty of healthy options
Akasa Air believes that a healthy and well-balanced lifestyle should be maintained while traveling, and that’s why the Café Akasa menu has plenty of healthy options. There are options for passengers who prefer vegetarian, non-vegetarian, vegan and healthy meal options, with all menu items being wholesome, high nutritional value meals.
The new menu brings a range of salads such as Insta-worthy Salad, Basil pesto chicken salad, Chick-a-licious Salad and Quak Pack salad. Apparently, the United Nations and the Indian government are on a mission to create awareness and increase the production and consumption of millet. Akasa Air has weighed in with a millet salad with pomegranate seeds and lemon olive oil dressing.
With sustainability in mind, the packaging for all perishable meals is 100% recyclable and made from paper ethically sourced from sustainably grown crops. The meal boxes contain no bleach or other optical brightening agents, and the wooden cutlery is biodegradable. It also helps reduce wastage when passengers pre-book their meals so that all perishable meals are accounted for onboard.
