During August, Azul had an on-time performance of 89.65% in the ranking for “The most on-time global airlines – mainline,” beating carriers from the five included regions, Asia and Pacific, North America, Europe, Africa and the Middle East, and Latin America. The results show a positive growth compared to the previous month, during which Azul had an on-time performance of 89.02%.
With more than 300 domestic and international routes, Azul has an extensive operational network of almost 900 daily flights connecting more than 150 destinations in Brasil and other countries.
“Our mission from the founding [of Azul] has been to connect the entire country. We have a very complex operation and guaranteeing the on-time performance of a flight is an effort by all of our team members, in whom I take very much pride.” – John Rodgerson, President, Azul Linhas Aéreas Brasileiras
Cirium’s on-time performance report for airlines is the oldest in the sector and monitors flight data from five continents. The analysis receives information from more than 600 sources in real-time, including airports, global distribution systems, location data, aviation authorities, and the airlines themselves. A flight is considered on time when the airline arrives at the gate at its destination within 15 minutes of the anticipated time. Cirium’s report analyzed more than 300,000 flights worldwide, with almost half coming from Latin America.

Earlier this week, Azul announced a new route from the city of Recife on the northeast coast of Brasil and the resumption of another route. The airline is preparing for the Southern Hemisphere’s summer and will inaugurate a flight from Recife/Guararapes–Gilberto Freyre International Airport to Carrasco International Airport in Montevideo, Uruguay. Azul will also resume its route from REC to Orlando International Airport (MCO).
“We are looking forward to resuming our international flights in Recife, our main connectivity hub in the Northeast. The capital of Pernambuco has always received Azul with open arms, and northeasterners’ affection for our company is reflected in our operations at the Recife airport. We have worked hard with the State Government, which is already a partner of Azul since the implementation of our hub in Recife, to start this new international operation, in addition to maintaining the entire regional network that Azul already operates today.” – John Rodgerson
Azul also took delivery of its first Airbus A350 aircraft last week, rumored to enter into service by the end of 2022.
