Iberia Gears Up For Uniform Debut In Tandem With New Meal Service Launch

Must read

The Spanish carrier Iberia has revealed the new uniforms for its cabin crews and ground staff. These new uniforms will be introduced shortly, coinciding with the launch of a new meal service onboard Iberia’s flights. Let’s investigate further.

New uniforms

On Thursday, Iberia showcased the new uniforms its flight crew and ground staff members will use starting in June. The employees will wear these uniforms in the nearly 140 destinations in 43 countries where Iberia operates with its fleet.

These new uniforms are “a sophisticated, elegant, and functional outfit displaying a natural balance between the hallmarks of Teresa Heilbig’s designs and the current image of the airline,” said the member of the International Airlines Group (IAG) in a statement.

Teresa Helbig is the first woman to design a uniform for Iberia, and she joins the list of Spanish courtiers who, since 1952, have lent their talents and skill to the design of the airline’s uniforms.

Gemma Juncá, Iberia’s Brand & Marketing Manager said,

“The new uniform is a key part of our brand, a sign of identity that reinforces our commitment to fashion and the Spanish culture values. We want our employees to feel proud to wear it and represent Iberia”.

The color range

Iberia’s new uniforms combines a navy blue and fawn alongside the airline’s official colors, red and yellow. Navy blue embodies balance and professionalism, combined with the calm of the fawn blouses and shirts and the energy of red and yellow, said the airline.

Teresa Helbig said she did not conceive these pieces as mere uniforms but as comfortable, functional, and flattering garments.

These new uniforms are the finishing touches of Iberia’s rebranding process, which started in 2013.

Before the airline’s rebranding, Iberia had spent 36 years without updating its brand design. The process has taken nearly a decade but has allowed Iberia to consolidate “our modernity, dynamism, and spirit of innovation in the 21st century.”

New meal service

The “in the air” debut of the uniforms is scheduled for next June, and it will coincide with the launch of the airline’s new food service offer onboard all flights.

Earlier this year, Iberia and its catering partner Do and Co redesigned the airline’s dining experience on short and medium-haul flights.

Iberia also recently reinstated its inflight shopping service, which was expanded to include drinks and sweet and savory snacks served.

The airline also offers its Deliverfly service, which allows passengers to pre-order items before their flight, and then are served at their seats by cabin crew members.

Iberia’s current schedule

The Spanish flag carrier is currently scheduling around 3,045 weekly flights per Cirium. Iberia has an availability of around 474,000 seats on routes across the world.

Nonetheless, Iberia is still behind its pre-pandemic traffic numbers. The airline is offering 10% fewer flights and 6.2% fewer seats, almost bouncing back to 2019 levels in terms of offered capacity.

Iberia has a fleet of around 167 aircraft between the mainline Iberia, Iberia Express, and Air Nostrum. The company operates Airbus, ATR, and CRJ aircraft.
