Viva Aerobus Inaugurates New International Route
On Sep. 2, the District Tourism Institute of Bogotá, ProColombia, the concessionaire of Bogotá’s El Dorado International Airport OPAIN, and the Mexican ultra-low-cost carrier Viva Aerobus, made the official launch of the airline’s new route between Mexico City and Bogotá.
Although the route began operations on August 21 with 2 weekly flights on Wednesdays and Saturdays with prices starting at $18 plus taxes, it was announced at the aforementioned event that from September 15, this route will have 1 daily flight.
This route is operated with Airbus A320 aircraft, with a capacity of 186 passengers.
In a press release, the Mexican ultra-low-cost carrier Viva Aerobus stated that among the greatest differentiators offered by the airline in its 15 years of experience, 4 elements stand out: firstly, its low prices up to 25% less than the competition.
Second, it has the youngest fleet in Mexico and the second youngest in North America with an average age of 4.6 years.
Third, the airline provides a customer-focused service distinguished by flexibility. Viva Aerobus is the only Mexican airline that has eliminated all additional charges for the date, time and route changes. Passengers should only assume the difference if it exists.
Finally, the airline’s commitment to health stands out, complying with strict prevention and hygiene protocols that have made it worthy of awards such as the Tourist Security Bell awarded by the Tourism Secretariat of the Government of Mexico City.
With this announcement, Viva Aerobus is positioned as one of the 3 main airlines in Mexico and with one of the highest passenger growth rates globally.

These new flights not only link the capitals of these countries, they also make available to Colombian passengers a network of routes that connect Mexico City with more than 30 destinations within Mexico.
This new route is designed to strengthen air connectivity, at affordable prices, in one of the most dynamic markets in America. In 2019, more than 1.5 million passengers traveled between Mexico and Colombia, with an upward trend in the last six years prior to the Covid-19 outbreak. Even during the pandemic, in 2020 Colombians were one of the first three countries that went to Mexico for leisure trips.
In this sense, this new route will allow the transport of more than 100,000 passengers in the first year, thus contributing to the economic and tourist reactivation of both countries.
