The flights
For the dates in question, the outbound flight from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) to Hong Kong Chek Lap Kok International Airport (HKG) is a direct service, operated by flag carrier Air Canada. Vancouver is located in the province of British Columbia, on Canada’s Pacific west coast. It is also home to the country’s second-busiest airport, behind Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ).
The return flight features a stop at Taipei Taoyuan International (TPE), Taiwan’s largest and busiest airport. The first leg from Hong Kong is operated by Cathay Pacific, generally utilizing Airbus A330 aircraft. Air Canada operates the Taipei-Vancouver leg, much like the outbound Vancouver-Hong Kong sector, with a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. It is worth noting that the Taipei layover can be long, and overnight. However, this is not the case for the December dates.
