Allegiant Adds Service to Orange County, Calif. and Grand Rapids, Mich.

Allegiant Air loaded several new routes and even a new destination onto its website early Tuesday morning, appearing to quietly announce new flights as the airline looks to strengthen its presence on the West Coast and in the Midwest. The airline is commencing new routes to John Wayne Airport in southern California and is expanding service to Grand Rapids, Mich.

Las Vegas-based Allegiant Air will be another airline to add the John Wayne Airport in Orange County, Calif. to its route map, coming as airlines across the U.S. have bolstered service to the popular destination.

The carrier will begin serving eight destinations from its newest city. These will include Boise, Idaho; Grand Junction, Colo.; Las Vegas; Medford, Ore.; Missoula, Mont.; Provo, Utah; Reno, Nev. and Spokane, Wash.

Flights from John Wayne Airport to Boise, Grand Junction, Medford and Provo will all commence on Feb. 12, 2021, and will each operate twice per week, once each on Mondays and Fridays.

Flights from its newest California destination to Las Vegas, Missoula, Reno and Spokane will commence on Feb. 18, 2021, and will also each operate two round-trip flights per week, flying both ways on Sundays and Thursdays

Allegiant will have no competition on the routes to Boise, Grand Junction, Medford, Missoula, Provo or Spokane. The airline will, however, have to compete with regional airline JSX on the route to Reno and will compete with up to four airlines on the route to Las Vegas, a group that will include Southwest Airlines, Spirit, and JSX.

This city in western Michigan is receiving two new Allegiant routes yet again. Grand Rapids is currently served via Gerald R. Ford International Airport and will soon offer a staggered set of 16-destination onboard Allegiant Air.

Grand Rapids is one of Allegiant’s largest destinations that is not officially one of its hubs, and it is one of the few Allegiant destinations to offer flights to both coasts of the U.S.

New destinations from Gerald R. Ford Airport include Newark Liberty International Airport and Destin, Fla. This will be Allegiant’s seventh Florida route from the Michigan airport and will not have any competition on the route. The airline will compete with United Airlines on the route to Newark Liberty.

Both routes will commence on March 5, 2021, and will operate twice-weekly on Mondays and Fridays.

Each route will be operated using one of Allegiant’s either Airbus A319 or A320 aircraft.
