Qatar Airways today flew a flight to and from Hamad International Airport with an all-woman crew on board. The special flight was conducted as part of the flag carrier of Qatar’s efforts during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The airline’s aircraft notably drew a ribbon in the sky during its path.
An important cause
The World Health Organization estimates that approximately 625,000 die each year from breast cancer. Altogether, it accounts for 15% of all female cancer deaths. Subsequently, airlines have been keen to do their bit to help out during October’s campaign.
Qatar Airways values the assistance that it’s Boeing 787 has given it during this challenging year. Subsequently, the Dreamliner was the plane chosen to conduct this special flight.

Measures across the board
Qatar Airways has introduced a series of initiatives for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Notably, it is offering its passengers an exclusive ‘Think Pink’ experience within its aircraft lounges. As part of this move, the carrier is offering custom-designed limited edition amenity kits and pink-themed special menus.
Moreover, along with its series of awareness-building activities, the airline is conducting health-education webinars and fundraising events such as its annual charity bazaar. Additionally, it is even offering free mammograms for staff members.
Within a press release seen by Simple Flying earlier this month, the airline announced its commitment to raising awareness during this month. Qatar Airways CEO Akbar Al Baker spoke about the importance of these efforts.
“Qatar Airways is a very strong supporter of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and we are pleased to offer these unique luxury amenity kits to our passengers,” Al Baker said, as per the press release.
“As an airline, we are inspired by the tremendous global effort that has gone into fighting this disease. We hope our message of breast cancer awareness reaches as many people as possible.”
Valued efforts
It is great to see airlines such as Qatar Airways raise awareness and introduce other initiatives to help out during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This year has been challenging for carriers across the globe, but this has not stopped several airlines from conducting its efforts when it comes to this important cause.
